Hipster Haircut

So my $45-dollar investment on a hair clipper and trimmer has paid for itself ten times over (maybe?!?).  As the male species (who gets haircuts) know, guys need to get a haircut every two to three weeks.  With two boys (John does not trust me) at home, haircuts every two weeks can add up.  So five years ago, I bought a Wahl haircut set for $25.00 and a trimmer for another $20.00.  Armed with the knowledge that if I mess up their hair (and I did), the boys cannot complain and I can buzz all the hair off.  There have been crooked bowl cuts and uneven sideburns but the last few haircuts have been not so bad.

I have to deal with two different hair types.  Sean has thick textured hair.  Kieran has thinner and fine hair.  Sean does not like his hair on his forehead.  Kieran will shake his head forward and use his fingers to bring his hair down.  I've learned that uneven cuts are more obvious on Kieran than Sean.

That being said, today Sean debuted what John terms as "Hipster Hair".  Sean likes his hair long.  In fact a year ago, we let it go as past his shoulders.  A bribe and me away overseas are what it took for him to cut it.  While I was cutting his hair, I decided to keep length on top but keep the sides clean.  As I used the #3 clipper on the sides, he asked me if I can leave the top part alone.  OK, but lets even it up a little.  Working with the cowlicks and natural part, I think it turned out well and Sean was happy.

We ended the three-day Labor weekend with a friendly game of Super Mario Bros. Monopoly.  Busy being banker, I glanced over at John who was giving Sean a quizzical look.  "What's up?", I asked.  He says, "I just realized Sean has hipster hair."  I look over and yes, I have given him hipster hair.   Sorry?  Not sorry?  Still handsome though.
